Are you buried under a sea of laundry, dishes and other housework? If you work from home, does it feel like your to-do list will never get to-done? Part of the problem could be that you are trying to do it all on your own.  By not using your resources, it causes you to overwork yourself. Today I’m going to show you ways to delegate, outsource and plan your way to sanity.

  1. You must have a schedule – If you expect for life to go like you’ve planned it in your head you’re going to be frustrated and confused.  When you know what is going, your day runs smoother and you’ll find that you are a lot less frazzled and reactive to life. Want to know how to set schedules that work? Be sure to check out my posting on schedules as well a piece on Time & Life Management from Sandi Krakowski.
  2. Use Your Resources – Your family is your largest resource. We often don’t utilize our families talents fully because we don’t think that they understand what is going on or what needs to be done. All we need to do is show them and take the time to teach them, our family’s are not mind readers, just because they love us doesn’t mean they truly know all ta is going on and all that we need help with.  Your children should be washing their own clothes and doing things like unloading the dishwasher or sweeping up the lawn clippings. Your partner should be helping you in the same ways. You were not built to be all things to all people.
  3. Outsource – Don’t be afraid by this word, outsourcing can mean a lot of different things. For instance, I outsource the education of my children by sending them to traditional school, I outsource childcare with a nanny. If you are an entrepreneur, try outsourcing some of the administrative pieces that you aren’t good at, sometimes you can find another entrepreneur to barter with so that you aren’t coming out of pocket.  When you outsource things that you either aren’t good at or need a break from, you are giving your body and mind a break so that you can truly operate from you center of genius.

Using these steps will help to take some of the pressure off of you and to truly gain the support of your family.  Take some time today to plan out your day, discover which activities you can delegate to family and which activities would actually work better being done by an outside source.  Free up your life by giving others something to do.
