Most of the moms I encounter have this one-dimensional view of self-care. As this magical day where they are free from responsibility.
That view is killing us. Waiting on a perfect day is adding more stress and anxiety to our life. Waiting for the perfect day is causing us to feel hopeless about self-care and like it’s out of reach.
So how does a mom create more opportunities to take time for her?
Create self-care time daily.
Here are three ways that you can create self-care daily with little to no money down.
- Setting + Applying Boundaries. Setting and applying boundaries is one of the most important types of self-care. If you find you’re spending too much time on O.P.P. (Other People’s Priorities), it could be an indicator that your boundaries need work.
- Morning Ritual. Putting you first is a bold act of self-care. Use the early morning to meditate, move your body or just sit in silence. When you give yourself 10-15 minutes to thrive you will be able to handle what comes your way with more grace.
- Time Mastery. Time mastery is not the same as time management. Time mastery means that you have a plan for your day and an emotional connection to it. Time mastery means you have mastered your emotions, schedule, distractions, and boundaries. When you have control over those areas in your life, you will find that you have the time to accomplish many things, all without watching the clock.
I know some of these might seem a bit out of reach but you can do it. I believe in you. The first step is to take action now. Practicing self-care daily will help you to feel clear and have more energy to live life to the fullest.
